The editing in this film is brilliant, is almost like when you remember things in your head, not in real life.
This movie is still haunting me - in a wonderful way - three days after I've seen it, and I think it will for days to come.
I get that some people didn't like it, but I think that to fully appreciate this film, or at least to increase your chances to, you need to be fully dedicated when you decide to watch it. This is because the screenplay is complex, but in my opinion there is not a single word or scene out of place. The problem is that to understand this, you first need to catch the key to interpreting what you are seeing, or have seen, but this won't likely happen until the movie is close to the end, or even after. Nevertheless, once you get that key, you can think of any single moment during your vision and find an explanation for that - and maybe even have fun doing so. That's precisely why I've loved it: I've never stopped "watching" this movie since I have started three days ago, because every time I think about what I saw, I catch a new detail or I give a different interpretation of a certain aspect.
So my suggestion to have the best experience from the vision of this film is to watch it carefully to get as much material as possible from this amazing trip through human psyche, which you can analyze and appreciate once you understand what is actually going on.

I'm thinking of ending things movie review. I was very impressed with this movie because I love Kaufman, but with him, the focus is always (understandably) on the screenplay. This was his first movie where I felt the screenplay wasn't necessarily the driving force, and the editing (as well as the performances) were a big part of that. Ultimately, it felt more concerned with established a certain feeling and atmosphere than getting ideas across. I'm Thinking of Ending things.

At first I thought, Okay, she has personality issues. Then I thought Okay, he has personality problems and she is his psychiatrist. Then I thought, ah okay, he is seeing his life, mixed with things he did and wish he did before he died. For what I get is, he had a difficult life on a farm, taking care of his parents. He was clever, had the hopes of being something great, but in the end, he became a lonely janitor that no one cared about. The movie was all in all, frustratingly paced, drawn out, long and boring. Painful to watch. The concept of the movie was good. The book is probably better.
I'll always try to give everything a chance but this movie is making me change that rule.
